Amazing Properties of Triphala

Ayurveda is a store house of a variety of herbs which help in curing various ailments. Triphala is a well-known preparation of Ayurveda. Triphala is used by Ayurvedic doctors as a prescription and as an OTC preparation. Triphala is made of three myrobalans - Emblica officinalis (Amla), Terminalia chebula (Haritaki) and Terminalia belerica (Bibhitaki) blended in equal proportion. In traditional Ayurvedic medicine, Triphala is used internally and topically for a variety of purposes e.g. stimulating the immune system, improvement of digestion, many eye diseases, etc.

Amalaki is the fruit considered to contain the most Vitamin C. Amalaki is a sour fruit that has a light green color. The level of Vitamin C found in Amalaki accelerates clotting of the blood and the healing of wounds. It has also been reported to renew sexual robustness in both women and men. Bibhitaki is a known tonic and laxative and can decrease fevers. Last but not the least; Haritaki is considered as one of the safest and mildest laxatives that can be found in nature. It also improves the stomach’s function and aids in digestion. Haritaki can be used to develop nutritional balance in the digestion system and to look after digestion, absorption, assimilation, and excretion.

Here are a few health benefits of Triphala:
-Triphala powder acts as a great laxative. Just add one teaspoon of Triphala powder in lukewarm water, add a little honey and drink it just after you wake up, empty stomach. It will work wonders.
