International Day of Yoga

The summer solstice is the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. The day of the summer solstice, June 21st has been established as the International Day of Yoga by the UN General Assembly. This proposal was co-sponsored by 177 countries, a record high for the General Assembly. In its resolution, the UN General Assembly recognized that Yoga provides a holistic approach to health and well-being.

A large number of yoga events are being planned for June 21. The Government of India is planning a number of yoga events around the world. Details are available at http://goo.gl/vaBRZT . On June 19th at 6.30 pm, a demonstration of Yoga will be performed at UNESCO House in Paris by the Iyenger Yoga Center lead by Faeq Biria with classical Indian music background. This performance will be choreographed by Bruno Bouché of the Opéra de Paris https://goo.gl/yVvLQg
